Anticipation

So it was pointed out to me that it's been like a month and half since our last blog. Not good....we are all about keeping everyone up to speed with whats happening in the life of torndown. So first, our apologies....

Second, the title of this blog says it all. Anticipation!

We are sooo excited for whats to come. If you've noticed, our show roster has not been growing and for good reason. We are currently laying low and spending time writing for what we hope to be a 2009 Summer sophmore release. The music we have been writing is without a doubt some of our best work and cannot wait to get into the studio to record. However, getting into the studio as a local independent band is not easy. It requires finances, time, and planning to make it a reality, all which don't come easy when each band member works a full time job! These are are just a few of the hurdles we have to surpass so your prayers are appreciated!

We do have some other exciting news to share as well....the excitement is there for us, but sometimes it gets lost with everything going on and forget that these things are a pretty big deal! First thing is we have our very first sponsor!!! This sponsor is an online Christian clothing company called Kerusso. Their website is http://www.kerusso.com/. They have sent us their clothes and other items for the band to wear and have requested our music to play at their facilities as well as a band photo wearing their clothing. Very cool.....

The other big news is........torndown is going to Nashville!!! Yup...a rep from a company called Band With A Mission out of Tennesee contacted us, complimented us on our music, and asked us to come out to Nashville in March to play at a showcase where we will be in front of Christian music industry A&R talent scouts and reps. After the showcase, we will receive a full review on what we did well and what we can improve on and have a shot at winning the showcase. In addition, being exposed to these record label A&R scouts, the chance for a record deal becomes more of a reality than ever before for us!!! We will be playing 3 or our BEST songs, and will peform them at Rocketown, a big music venue in Nashville! We would ask for your prayers on this as well, that we would prepare diligently, and bring our best to the south!!! The showcase is on March 23rd, 2009.

Alright, I should stop. I will be impressed if you read all the way through this but this is what we get for not updating you all more regularly.

We have one show left in 2008. It will be at the Pepper Barn in Colchester, CT on Friday, December 12th!!! Please try and make it out to see us as we won't be playing live for the next few months......

Thank you to all who support torndown. Every fan counts and we are thankful!

Blessings ~

torndown announces a drummer

.......it's been a LONG time coming!

We are happy to announce that after a weekend of auditioning a candidate all the way from Indiana, torndown welcomes a new drummer into the band!
His name is Jonah Sullivan.

Currently, Jonah is finishing out his semester of school at UI and then plans on relocating to Connecticut to join up with the rest of the band.
He has been drumming for his church back home for years and offers a dynamic sound to the band.

We are truly excited for this new chapter of torndown, especially as we endeavor to play out as a full band and work the new material that is bursting at the seams....

Keep in touch through our myspace and facebook pages and in the meantime, we hope to catch you at one of our upcoming shows!

In Him,

A show, an update, and a fight....

A FIGHT.........

How many of us call out for rescue on a daily basis? More importantly, when that rescue arrives in a way you may not have wanted it to, how many of us embrace it?

I'm gonna go backwards through the title of this blog and start with "a fight". I battle daily with my own struggles and vices, yet always find time to pray for deliverance from them just as they begin to overtake me. The amazing thing is I am given a way out and most of the time, choose to not see it. Call this the rollercoaster of the christian walk, but it still doesn't take the sting away knowing I would rather admit defeat to whatever the attack may be.....

I bring this up for several reasons, but one specifically. When you do choose to embrace God's rescue, you will never feel so free! He has started a work in His chosen and will complete it...this is what I continue to remind myself. "though I may fall, You lift me up when I have no strength"

I am writing to all those that battle daily like me. Be encouraged and when the fight begins, embrace His rescue......

AN UPDATE.................

We have much to celebrate and plans to make! This past weekend we had a drummer all the way from Indiana come out to Connecticut and spend time with us auditioning. I'm pleased to say that it went very well and we feel that he could be the right fit for us. We will keep you posted with progress on this as we move forward. We have some video footage from the weekend along with a V-blog that is being worked on now and it should be up soon!

A SHOW.................

We will be playing two sets, one starting around 6pm and other starting between 7:30 and 8pm. Details are below. He's leading.....

Welcome to Fall! Love this time of year....it's a great time to be in New England. That being said, time is FLYING by!

Welp, an honest and realistic goal we've set is to update you with a blog at least once a week so here it is.....
We are striving everyday so hard to put our trust where it belongs, that is in Him. The small and feeble attempts we make have already shown us that God will work with even the weakest efforts to build up those that desire to put Him first...what a relief! Failure seems to be the norm in life, but it gives us great hope to know He will lead you if you ask...

...what am I getting at? We are putting one foot in front of the other and things are starting to take shape! One of the hardest things we've faced as a band is aligning ourselves with the musicians we feel are on page with what Dan and I set out for from the beginning. We feel confident that God is at work in torndown as we speak and is providing just that. By the end of October, we should have a good picture of what a complete torndown will look like!

We would ask for your continued prayers and support as we approach what looks like the final steps to this year long journey of having the right people in place and take the next step....
Whats the next step? Grind out our new material and record a full band album! Exciting stuff...just the thought of it gets me amp'd!

Meanwhile, we continue to tour through CT and MASS with our acoustic sets and hope to expand our footprint across the eastcoast. Thats my Monday blog for you! Thanks again for your support and hope to see you at a show soon!
