torndown tuesday Extended Edition August 11th, 2009

Good Morning ~

We have several updates in this torndown tuesday so get your coffee in hand and kickback into torndown's world for a few minutes with us, but you have to promise right now to read ALL the way through this one right now. Promise...............ok now you can keep reading.

First and foremost: CHANGE. We all go through it. We've all been through it. We all will continue to experience it. After much consideration and prayer, Dan Bolduc has decided to step down from torndown. He feels that he is being called in a different direction at this time. Dan's love for torndown is still there, but wanting to spend time in other areas of his life leaves him at this decision. We are saddened to see Dan leave, but respect this decision and support him in making it. We are thankful to have had the opportunities that we've had with Dan in torndown and are grateful for what he has contributed. Please keep him in your prayers that God would lead and direct him in whatever is next in his life.

So, what's the future of torndown look like? Well, as you know we are on the cusp of releasing our new album "FALLEN". How ironic. The good news...there is no doubt in our minds that God is leading and he is leading with a clarity that is hard to describe in words. We will be going into the studio this Thursday to record and finalize the album. The CHANGES: I have pretty much been writing almost all of the guitars and melodies for the album. That being said, I will be recording all of the guitars and will be singing melodies and harmonies for the entire album.....

Our name "torndown" fits right along with this situation as it does with many situations. Hosea 6:1 says "for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up."rnrnWe don't see this as necessarily being struck down, but it obviously requires change. As mentioned before, we feel God leading, especially right now and think that we are on the brink of something great!

In ALL senses, we ask that you keep the faith.

We have put our blood, sweat, and tears into writing for this album and God has been good. It is some of what we believe to be the best music we've ever made and are excited to share it with you!

This Thursday through Sunday, stay close to the computer for updates at the studio. We will be blogging throughout and putting up some video clips as well.

We are grateful for this opportunity to put out "FALLEN" and want to thank each and everyone of you for helping us have this opportunity!

Thanks for sticking with us through this and through this long blog at that. Imagine me trying to update our Twitter with this!!!???

If you remember and feel led, please keep us in prayer throughout the rest of this week!

Thanks and Blessings,
Tim, Eric, and Jonah

torndown tuesday July 21

Good afternoon td fans, we want to start off saying how thankful we are for all the support we have been getting lately. It seems that every time we log into the facebook account we have new fans, which means a lot!

On the music side of things, we are still pre-producing and adding different parts and instruments here and there - very exciting. Only 23 days until recording!!!! The anticipation almost hurts! We had a great night of writing some violin pieces for one of the songs we will be recording with special guest, Matt last night. As we refine the material and prepare for the studio, we would like to ask for prayer that all would go well.

Dan has been pretty sick the past few days so we ask for prayers that he continues to fight off the nastiness. Jonah had some very sad news that his grandmother passed away this past Sunday. He is headed to Indiana for the funeral this weekend. Please pray for him and his family in this difficult time.

Be Blessed,
Tim, Dan, Jonah, Eric

torndown Tuesday July 7th

What's up everyone? As you can see, we are back to a more standard format. We hope everyone had an awesome and safe Independence Day! This week was a good week. Eric and his fiancĂ© Jaci set a date for their wedding, and made a trip to NYC. Jonah’s girlfriend Brittany also came out for a visit and got to sit in on a super secret torndown acoustic practice. Tim is on vacation this week, probably doing a lot of music geniusing (I just made that word up) on the guitar. Dan is preparing for vacation next week.

On the music side of things, we are still plugging away at writing for the new record, filling in the blanks and really trying to get the creative juices flowing. This is one of our favorite things to do as musicians and as a band. It is the time when we can embrace the gifts that God has given us and glue the pieces of our emotions, trials, joys, and everything else together, creating music from all of these things. We are so thankful God has given us a heart for this! We started pre-production on song #2 for the CD last night. I think we are all excited about this one as it will most likely end up being the title track of the CD (stay tuned for more on that). We have almost nailed down a CD release date and will share those details once they are finalized.

Some other exciting news....Fuse Christian Concerts out of Massachusetts contacted us and has asked us to open up for a pretty big band in the Christian music world called The Glorious Unseen. The show will be Sunday, September 13th in Easton, MA! We are very excited for this and will share more details in the coming weeks.

Wishing you all a blessed week ~
Tim, Dan, Jonah, Eric

torndown Tuesday 06/30/09

torndown Tuesday 6/30/09

Eric: Hi everyone. Wow! I can't believe it is almost July already. We started pre-production on one of the new songs that is going to be on the CD last night. All in all, we are happy with the way it sounds. Some of the neighbors didn't care for it much (and asked us to turn down) but that's fine. It was basically just us playing the same song over and over again for a couple of hours so I imagine that isn't very fun to listen to. We also started throwing around names for the CD title and it was kind of a struggle. Feel free to send us your suggestions. That's about it for this week. Next week, we will continue to work on other songs as we get ready to record in six weeks. Yeah! Until next time, God Bless. E

Tim: Happy torndown tuesday everyone! So here's a little of what’s been going on with me. Lately and more than ever, it feels like there aren't enough hours in the day. I am willing to call it lack of time management on my part, but I just can't seem to accomplish all I would like to on any given day. Prioritizing has been on my heart and it is helping. Starting the day off submersed in the Word seems to make everything else fall into place...I have been reading the Gospel of Matthew, trying to work my way through all four Gospels without missing a day of reading. Sounds simple perhaps, but when my priorities shift, it's sad to see what sneaks into first place and what gets pushed to the back of the line. I am praying that God would keep me grounded in his Word and focused on this personal goal. On the music side of things, it's ALL good! We had an awesome night of pre-producing last night on the first song for the new album. Very excited to continue through the process...STAY TUNED! Be Blessed ~Tim

Dan: Well let’s see, what’s up in Dan’s world? I have been reading in this chronological Bible every night (mostly every night). I started with the New Testament a few months ago and then took a break. But I just got to the part when Jesus was all like “One of you will betray me” (talking to his disciples) and they were all like “no way, Lord”. Like my paraphrasing? HaHaHa. Anyways, it is really good to stick with it, I have never actually read through the Bible all the way through and I hope to accomplish it this year. I tell you…between this and the sermons on Sunday’s I am loving getting into His word. As far as music goes last night we had a great night of working on one of our brand new songs. This one is BRAND new. No one will hear it until the CD comes out!!! That is, no one other than Tim’s neighbor who came to ask us to tone it down a bit. I cannot wait until all of you can hear it! In Christ, Dan

Jonah: So we had our first pre-production practice in preparation for the new cd, and it was awesome, the first song we worked on last night was dynamite, definitely much more challenging music then we are used too. Things are going well on the music end of things. As for me personally I'm doing okay. Everyday is different. Still adjusting to life in CT; going through the daily battles that we all face with friends, family, and our faith. But everyday God gives me the strength to fight on, which is awesome because with out Him I would be a mess. Well that’s enough of me rambling have a great week td fans! J -Sliver

torndown tuesday June 22

We are trying out a new little format for torndown tuesday, its kind of like each member will tell a bit about whats up with him this week.

Dan - "Wow is all I have to say...This past week has been interesting to say the least. Since our last blog we have gone through a re-vamping of sorts. While God has always been with us, and guiding us, we seem to have taken a small step back in our ultimate goal. We kind of felt as though we weren't including Him in everything we do. In practicing, in planning for a show, etc. We were kind of relying on ourselves to come up with the gameplan, etc. I for one have never felt as convicted as I do now, EVER. Again, I realized how much I need to focus on God and let Him run my life. After all, if it wasn't for Him, we would not be here. In the past, I haven't been quite as excited about reading the Bible, but the past few days, I've been yearning to get into His word."

Tim - "I feel very good with how last nights band meeting went. We put our ultimate goals back in front of us and are looking ahead with a peace of mind, knowing God is in control and will lead us. Laying the ground work for the new album, we have made the first step and have decided on the songs that will make the record. Looking forward and upward, ambitiously."

Eric - "We decided last night to have a band meeting, rather than a rehearsal.
I'm happy we took the time to do this. It was important for all of us
to reflect on and shift our focus back towards God. We also took some
time to establish the songs we want to record. I'm excited to continue
(and in some cases) begin work on those. We'll share the song titles
once we record them because there is always a possibility things will
change before August. It's going to be a busy couple of months. Thanks
for your continued support."

Jonah - "So..... last night we had kinda of a band re-commitment to our ministry. It probably sounds weird to hear that, but believe it or not we are human, and just because we play music for God, doesn't mean that we don't struggle in our everyday walk with him. It was a very powerful meeting, and it helped the band to grow closer as a group which was awesome. After the meeting we decided to dive into trying to decide what songs should appear on the next album. It was a rather long process, because we all had song that we wanted on the cd, but after about an hour or so of voting and tallying we all came to an agreement that everyone was happy with, and I think you guys will be pleased too. We are all excited and can't wait to get started on the cd!"

So that's whats up in torndown land. Let us know what you think about the new format.

Be Blessed,
torndown

torndown tuesdays June 16th

Good afternoon TD fans, sorry for such a long layoff on the torndown tuesday's, time has been flying by and we have been super busy...

Hey this is Jonah, I just wanted to give everyone a little update on how I'm adjusting to life out here in Connecticut. Where to begin, lets see haha ..... I'm starting to adjust slowly but surely to the great state of Connecticut. Things are a bit different out here than they are in Indiana, I still don't know my way around here and get lost occasionally, but I guess that is to be expected, but other than that I'm getting along just fine. I would like to thank all my friends and family for all the support they have given me during this transition, and also thank everyone who has been praying for me and lifting me up spiritually during the move. I appreciate it a lot.....

Now on to the music part of things. We just finished up our last show of the summer this past Saturday in West Haven at the Vineyard, it was a great show and big ups to everyone who came and supported as well as all the other great artist's that performed. But now the real journey begins, Torndown is just about 2 months shy of being in the studio and recording our first full band EP. We are excited to say the least, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us to make the music the best that it can possibly be.....(For all of you OF COURSE =)
So stay tuned for more updates on Torndown as we venture into a summer of preparation and producing.

Hope everyone has a great week!

torndown tuesdays May 12th 2009

Good Morning to all of our td followers ~

First big news update on the torndown tuesdays agenda.....

  • Our bassist, Eric Armstrong, got engaged! He popped the question this past weekend...we are very excited for him and his bride to be, Jaci! Drop him a congrats if you feel so inclined =)
  • I've been working on a new tune for about a week now, and am happy to say it is finished!...for the most part. A VERY brief and exclusive look into this song: It talks about deceit and hate and how it at times dwells in us uncontrollably. It's a song where we find a passion to rid ourselves of it even amidst our fragile state, calling out to be rebuilt. The name of the song is.....just kidding. I can't give away ALL of our secrets! A few verses that inspired this song came from Romans 7:18-19 "For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing." The words of the apostle Paul addressing the sin that causes warfare between the flesh and the spirit.
  • Jonah's expected arrival to CT is May 28th. Please pray for a safe trip and an easy transition for him.
  • UPCOMING SHOWS: Friday, June 5th @ Narcissus Chocolate Cafe in Wethersfield!

As always, thank you for supporting us! See you soon!

torndown tuesdays Cinco de Mayo edition

Good Day to all you torndown followers. It's a nice cool rainy day here in CT. Yuck. I like the warmer sunny weather. But the world needs a lil rain sometimes. So not too much has happened since the last torndown tuesdays blog.

Well actually, Jonah celebrated his 22nd birthday! He's the baby of the group! Soon it will be Eric's turn to join club 27. May will be a month mainly focused on working on new material. Not sure when it will debut, but Tim has been hard at work on a few new tunes.

Last night I realized that I don't spend enough time reading God's word. We are all such failures, but He still loves us. That is one extremely comforting thing. Also another thing really got me thinking. This past Sunday, one thing my Pastor said really struck me hard. I may be a nice guy, and I may have done some nice things, but I've done so much wrong in my life. How the heck can I expect to be handed ETERNAL LIFE! How selfish of me to even think that I deserve it.

To think that Jesus lived his entire life without sinning, and then was put to death FOR ME and for everyone else, is nuts. But it's true. He loved us sooooo much he sent his only son to live the perfect life and die for each and ever one of us! Talk about love.

Back to torndown. So it is official, as we said previously. We've booked 4 days in the studio this august. The plan is to record 4 songs-full band! Not sure just yet if we will have CD's pressed and sell them, of if we will just make the songs available via Digital Distribution (itunes, etc.).

So lastly, we have a few shows coming up (June 5th, June 13th, and June 13th). That is right, we are playing two shows on June 13th. One acoustic set in Manchester and one full band set in New Haven (opening for Chosen/EMG/Universal recording artist Bobby Bishop).

We ask that you continue to pray for all of the members of torndown and our families as we seek to do God's will and bring his word to everyone.

Dan

  • Jonah's countdown to Connecticut continues...only 31 days before he becomes a resident of New England! Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers as he is uprooting a life lived over a 1000 miles away to join torndown, exhorting himself, driven from his faith and belief in torndown.
  • torndown will have most of May off from playing live shows but will kick June off with several....JUNE 5TH @ Narcissus Chocolate Cafe - JUNE 13TH (afternoon) @ PCA Children Of Hope Benefit Concert - JUNE 13th (evening) @ The Vine with Universal/EMG/Choosen recording artist Bobby Bishop !!!! • We put a video up on our pages and in this blog of a live performance of"Way Out", one of our newest songs. Check it out and leave us a comment letting us know what you think!
  • SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST....It's official: Our studio time has been BOOKED!!!!! We can't begin to explain how excited and blessed we are to be able to say that! Since the final formation of the band has taken place, recording an EP of the full band has been our vision. Through the generousity of MANY and the will from Above, torndown will hit the studio in August. We will be recording an EP, number of tracks unknown right now. The dates are August 13th thru the 16th! We will be pre-producing a number of songs and will be narrowing it down as we get closer....SO, thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us to be able to look forward to this!!!

Thanks for reading and enjoy the video!

Torndown Tuesday April 14th

Hi everyone...

had a nice practice last night...talked about the setlist for some upcoming shows, and played through most of our songs...we are talking about bringing back a song that we haven't played too much in recent months, but yet seems to be a favorite, so keep an eye (or ear) out for it.

This Saturday we are playing at a Missions Trip Coffee House for the New Life Fellowship Church in Plainville. We played here back in June of last year and had a great time and saw some other great acts. Come on out and support torndown and help to spread the Word to other parts of the world.

The Jonah countdown keeps ticking away, and is now at T minus 7 or 8 weeks...lets all keep him and his situation in our prayers...

We would also ask that you would all continue to pray for torndown as a whole and that God would lead us down the right path with our music, or should we say His music.

In Christ,
torndown

Torndown Tuesday April 7th

Got some pretty cool news today...Jonah calls and says that he gave our CD to someone at the local college radio station (University of Southern Indiana's WSWI The Edge 820 am). They really liked "Don't Go Away" and are going to be playing it. That's pretty neat, if anyone else has local radio stations, feel free to call and request us, or better yet drop off a cd (we will get you a free one). On another note, Jonah is excited, yet extremely nervous about making the trip out to CT. We all will be praying for him and how he is leaving all that he knows behind. We have a few shows coming up so be on the lookout.

Blessings,
torndown

P.S. our CD found its way into the hands of a very very talented Christian artist (thanks Brittany), lets hope she likes it...

Torndown Tuesday!

Hi all,

Just wanted to give a little update of what we've been up to since returning from Nashville.

We will be keeping in touch with the Band with a Mission people to see if anything pops up in the future, but have tentatively decided to push forward on our own for the time being. There would have been way too many sacrifices involved to make it work at this point.

We will be continuing to try and raise the remaining funds needed to record our full band demo. Hopefully within the next few months we can put a nice dent in that.

We have a few shows coming up, if you haven't already seen them. Plainville, CT, Feeding Hills, MA, and New Haven, CT to name a few. Last night we put together our set list for the first few shows and feel really good about it.

On another note, the days are counting down until Jonah moves out to CT to reunite with td. Things have been tough with the band being separated by 1000 miles.

Stay tuned for more updates and news on.... tttttttorndown tttttuesdays

The Nashville update....

The road was long, bumpy, and scary but we made it and are back home!

First off, thank you to everyone for the overwhelming level of support we received and for all of your prayers....

Here's the recap. Tim, Dan, and Eric hit the road from Amston, CT before sunrise on Saturday, March 21st. Had an overnight in Christiansburg, VA and then hit it again about 6am Sunday morning. We arrived in Nashville around 1pm. The trip totalled over 1000 miles one way and roughly 17 hours of driving! Jonah left Indiana Sunday morning and met the rest of torndown at the hotel for an unplugged practice in the hotel room.... =)

We got to experience some great food Sunday night and walked downtown taking in the city of music!

Monday morning came quickly as we anticipated it would. We ran through our three songs once more in the hotel and arrived at Rocketown just before 11am. In total, there we 10 bands. We loaded into the venue's underground perfomance hall and waited our turn to get on stage....

We ended up being the third band to get on stage and rocked out our three tunes. The performance went really well with the exception of a few mistakes. One of the exciting parts for us was the fact that the first two bands that played were both VERY GOOD, but sounded similar where as we broke up the similarities with a different sound and style of music and for lack of a better explanation, woke everyone up a bit =) We noticed several people including BWAM and other bands moving to our tunes....

After finishing our performance, we loaded up and listened to the rest of the bands play out. Austin from BWAM handed us our written assessment and complimented us on our performance. There was a lot of information in the assessment both good as well as areas for improvement. The overall assessment scored us at a 7 out of 1-10. We are pleased with this grade seeing as we went to this showcase with about 10 days of preparation as a full band.

Hitting the road Tuesday morning, Jonah headed back to Indiana while Tim, Dan, and Eric headed for the Northeast. We received our detailed assessment in email from BWAM and read it over during the drive. Lots of food for thought, but overall, we are thankful for the opportunity and the results from the showcase! There is potential for several opportunities that could stem from this trip so right now we are praying over these things and are trusting that God would lead us through this unchartered territory.

Finishing up our trip home, we had an overnight in Maryland at Tim's brother's house (thanks Will and Alycia!) on Tuesday night and continued on Wednesday morning, getting home around 5pm.

We look forward to sharing more details soon once things settle down and we've had time to pray and plan for the next step.....

That being said, we are happy to be home and want to thank everyone again for their prayers and support!

Please keep checking in with us on our pages for what comes next!!!

In Him ~

new addition

some of you may have seen him around a bit. he mysteriously appeared in some torndown photos and videos. some of you may know him for previous musical endeavors. some of you may even BE him. HE is the new official bassist for torndown. his name is Eric Armstrong. crowd roars. after successful rehearsals and even a breakthrough performance, Tim, Dan, and Jonah, and God, officially offered the spot to Eric.

standing a mere 8 feet tall, Eric adds some height to the group. much needed height. he also adds a 5 string bass and some awesome low notes to the mix.

Eric seeks to grow his relationship with God and further the mission of torndown...

welcome aboard.

oh my

So it's been a fairly laid back but eventful couple of weeks. we have been writing some new material and really trying to prepare for Nashville! This could be huge for us. God has been so great to give us this opportunity and we continue to seek His will.

We ask for your continued prayers as torndown seeks to glorify God in everything we do.

Where have we been you ask?

....in hibernation, writing new music, refining existing tunes, practicing once or twice with our long distance drummer (for the time being/soon to be local), working on td's sophmore release, and most importantly, PREPARING FOR NASHVILLE!

So sorry for lack of blogging. Truth is just because we haven't been able to write doesn't mean things aren't happening. In actuality, we have been busy busy...

Without letting "the cat out of the bag" I will attempt to let you know all of the exciting things going on with torndown right now.

1) First off, as you know we will be performing at the BWAM Nashville, TN showcase on March 23rd. We have been diligently working on our newest material and trying to decide what 3 songs would be the best choice to perform in Nashville. We think we have them nailed down at this point. This is a chance to bring our best to the best so we are asking everyone for their support and prayers as we countdown the days....55 DAYS FROM TODAY!

2) New Look, New Sound: A special thanks to Jenna Hollinger www.jennahollingerphotography.com for the photo shoot taken earlier this month! Pictures should be up soon. The "new sound" has a history that I wanted to share with you for just a minute. Most people know torndown as the acoustic act, however the roots of rock music have always been present. When torndown started, the passion for rocking with purpose was the intent but not having the musicians in place allowed the acoustics to pave the way. Now that we have the musicians, we finally have this intended sound and style. IT DOESN'T END HERE....the purpose of torndown is share a message of hope in a world where hope doesn't exist. Reaching people with our music is the plan. We're talking about eternal things and the building up of a Kingdom. Lives change when the true message of Christ is heard. We have a passion for music and a faith that drives it. With this new sound we have been culturing, the ability to reach out to those that might not hear that message becomes more of a reality.

3) This is the whole "cat ouf of the bag" I was talking about. All I will say is keep your eyes open in the next few weeks for a potential performance from the reinvented torndown. A plan, and that is all it is right now is to host a weekend with torndown, performing acoustically and electric/full band before we head to Nashville. The story behind the two shows is two fold. It would be a great opportunity to share the new sounds in both environments (acoustic and electric). The second reason is we are trying to raise funds for our next EP we are working on, so this would be a fund raiser performance. I will stop here but again, keep your eyes and ears open for details. As soon as we can commit, we will spread the word. Tentative dates so you can look at your calendars now would be Friday night, March 6th (acoustic) and Saturday night, March 7th (electric).

I think we have made up for not writing over the past few weeks with this one, huh?

Please leave us comments, thoughts, questions or anything really. We are excited for this new year and thank all of you who continue to support torndown!

Changes, Guidance, and What’s to Come….

Changes, Guidance, and What’s to Come….

With 2008 coming to a close, a few other chapters in the book of torndown have come to an end. Some of which were extremely hard to do, but when all is said and done, we are not the ones making the decisions. God works in mysterious ways, we all know. He does things for reasons we may not yet know or understand, and frankly, we may never understand.

With 2008 ending, torndown and bassist Kevin Zufall have parted ways. While Kevin and his family have been a blessing for everyone and everything that torndown has done, the group has felt God calling them in a different direction. We are still in prayer that God will lead through this time and we are thankful for all that Kevin brought to torndown.

On another note, Tim has traded his Taylor acoustic/electric guitar in towards an electric guitar amp. For the past few months the group has been feeling God’s guidance to do something a little different with their music. Something they originally had aspirations to do; to be a full rock band. This has been a long time coming, considering some of the guitar pieces that Tim has been writing.

We still plan to play some acoustic shows, as we really do owe a lot to the acoustic guitar. Bottom line is that 2009 will probably hold a slew of different musical endeavors for torndown.

Jonah will be making his second trip out to CT next week, our prayers are with him as he travels and we all pray the torndown will have a great few days of practicing.

With our opportunity in Nashville being almost at an arms reach, we are preparing for the best. Come mid/late March, we will be playing three new songs that have not been released, written with the latest sounds of torndown for the showcase at Rocketown.

As with everything in life, torndown has seen it’s own ups and downs. However, God is faithful, so as we hold on to the one thing that will never disappoint, we look forward to 2009 with great expectations! “But seek His Kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” Luke 12:31

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Years,

~torndown
