Where have we been you ask?

....in hibernation, writing new music, refining existing tunes, practicing once or twice with our long distance drummer (for the time being/soon to be local), working on td's sophmore release, and most importantly, PREPARING FOR NASHVILLE!

So sorry for lack of blogging. Truth is just because we haven't been able to write doesn't mean things aren't happening. In actuality, we have been busy busy...

Without letting "the cat out of the bag" I will attempt to let you know all of the exciting things going on with torndown right now.

1) First off, as you know we will be performing at the BWAM Nashville, TN showcase on March 23rd. We have been diligently working on our newest material and trying to decide what 3 songs would be the best choice to perform in Nashville. We think we have them nailed down at this point. This is a chance to bring our best to the best so we are asking everyone for their support and prayers as we countdown the days....55 DAYS FROM TODAY!

2) New Look, New Sound: A special thanks to Jenna Hollinger www.jennahollingerphotography.com for the photo shoot taken earlier this month! Pictures should be up soon. The "new sound" has a history that I wanted to share with you for just a minute. Most people know torndown as the acoustic act, however the roots of rock music have always been present. When torndown started, the passion for rocking with purpose was the intent but not having the musicians in place allowed the acoustics to pave the way. Now that we have the musicians, we finally have this intended sound and style. IT DOESN'T END HERE....the purpose of torndown is share a message of hope in a world where hope doesn't exist. Reaching people with our music is the plan. We're talking about eternal things and the building up of a Kingdom. Lives change when the true message of Christ is heard. We have a passion for music and a faith that drives it. With this new sound we have been culturing, the ability to reach out to those that might not hear that message becomes more of a reality.

3) This is the whole "cat ouf of the bag" I was talking about. All I will say is keep your eyes open in the next few weeks for a potential performance from the reinvented torndown. A plan, and that is all it is right now is to host a weekend with torndown, performing acoustically and electric/full band before we head to Nashville. The story behind the two shows is two fold. It would be a great opportunity to share the new sounds in both environments (acoustic and electric). The second reason is we are trying to raise funds for our next EP we are working on, so this would be a fund raiser performance. I will stop here but again, keep your eyes and ears open for details. As soon as we can commit, we will spread the word. Tentative dates so you can look at your calendars now would be Friday night, March 6th (acoustic) and Saturday night, March 7th (electric).

I think we have made up for not writing over the past few weeks with this one, huh?

Please leave us comments, thoughts, questions or anything really. We are excited for this new year and thank all of you who continue to support torndown!

Changes, Guidance, and What’s to Come….

Changes, Guidance, and What’s to Come….

With 2008 coming to a close, a few other chapters in the book of torndown have come to an end. Some of which were extremely hard to do, but when all is said and done, we are not the ones making the decisions. God works in mysterious ways, we all know. He does things for reasons we may not yet know or understand, and frankly, we may never understand.

With 2008 ending, torndown and bassist Kevin Zufall have parted ways. While Kevin and his family have been a blessing for everyone and everything that torndown has done, the group has felt God calling them in a different direction. We are still in prayer that God will lead through this time and we are thankful for all that Kevin brought to torndown.

On another note, Tim has traded his Taylor acoustic/electric guitar in towards an electric guitar amp. For the past few months the group has been feeling God’s guidance to do something a little different with their music. Something they originally had aspirations to do; to be a full rock band. This has been a long time coming, considering some of the guitar pieces that Tim has been writing.

We still plan to play some acoustic shows, as we really do owe a lot to the acoustic guitar. Bottom line is that 2009 will probably hold a slew of different musical endeavors for torndown.

Jonah will be making his second trip out to CT next week, our prayers are with him as he travels and we all pray the torndown will have a great few days of practicing.

With our opportunity in Nashville being almost at an arms reach, we are preparing for the best. Come mid/late March, we will be playing three new songs that have not been released, written with the latest sounds of torndown for the showcase at Rocketown.

As with everything in life, torndown has seen it’s own ups and downs. However, God is faithful, so as we hold on to the one thing that will never disappoint, we look forward to 2009 with great expectations! “But seek His Kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” Luke 12:31

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Years,

~torndown
